Recent Projects! Busy Busy Busy!
As requested by a few guests
and customers—I’ve compiled a few recent projects that I’ve worked on with
fabric. I’ve been staying really busy lately (happy about that!) and all these
are from the past month or so. Be sure to let me know which one(s) are your
favorite(s) if you can spare a second!
These Premier Prints Chevron
table runners worked splendidly with the arrangements—don’t you think!? Congratulations to the bride and groom
as well! Wish you all the best.
Coordinator: Kathy Hallblade, A Vintage Touch
Florist: J&J Glassing Floral and Beanee Hoff
The next to last project I
worked on was with this splendid Rico Papaya Fabric by Duralee. It’s one of my favorite fabrics to work
with!
Great color arrangement!
For one of my long-standing
customers, I’ve done another custom order for his hotel patio—this time working
with Premier Prints Outdoor Stripe.
Ahhhh. Looks like the perfect place to
relax!

HAPPY 4TH!
Happy 4th of July!
I definitely can’t wait for music and fireworks tonight in downtown Wilmington!! Till then, I’m making curtain panels with this beautiful Blue Silsila
fabric by P. Kaufmann. Not a bad way to spend Independence Day. My thoughts are with our soldiers and their families today--a big thank-you is in order.
Where I work
The Tour—Here’s my
Home-Studio!
Here’s how I see most
days—behind the sewing machine. The windows in the background make it
easy to get distracted by!
And this is why: the view
is amazing (if you look closely, you can see my son’s dog that was visiting)!
I'm based out of Wilmington, NC--a fairly older city and one of the main spots
where films/TV shows are filmed. A lot of the Nicolas Sparks movies are
based here and it’s home to Dawson's Creek! Just recently, they filmed part of Iron Man 3 here as
well!
Another shot taken from
my studio window of my pier. I'm getting really excited since the weather
is warming up! Most days the waterway is clear so I could take my boat
out right after work for a peaceful dinner or sunbathing.
Meet my sewing machine of
30 years (almost part of the family). We have a love-hate relationship,
but she's been with me through a large phase of my life. =]
Another picture with some
of the fabric I use—waiting to be cut for pillows and curtains. I have
quite a selection of fabric! I used to have multiple racks (like the one on the
end), but when it gets busy, it's too time consuming to take the bolts off and
put them back--plus, I get more space sitting them vertically.
Storing my already cut
fabric—mostly just extra fabric I use for odd size orders or smaller pillows.
You can see the extra pillow cases I've already made to the right. I love
that feeling of getting a work order for a pillow I've already made!
Lastly, one last picture
of the pier just outside my studio as the sun goes down. At the end of
the day the most important aspect is appreciating the good days you have and
when it's not good, hoping for the best. Happy humpday!
It’s hard to find another, stronger inspiration
than color. It’s so easy in the mornings, sitting with a cup
of tea at my workbench, and remember why I got started in interior design in
the first place. I love to see colors working with patterns to create
that perfect image you’ve imagined in your head. Today it’s a sunroom by
the beach:
There’s a nice view from the second story as the
fan revolves slowly. In the corners are brightly colored green palms with
a slight yellow around at the edges—they almost sparkle in the sunlight.
The white wicker sofa is brightened as I stack these yellow chevron pillows.
I can change the focal point in the entire room with just color!
Sometimes it astounds me
how tranquility is easily obtained with the right color palate.
